Why Summer Is the Perfect Time to Build Healthy Habits
By Sam Petragnani
Are you looking for motivation to start something new or wanting to get more active? Then look no further, summer time is the best time to start your journey to a better mind and body!
Warmer weather and longer daylight hours
During the summer, we can break out of stressful and rigid routines that we had in the winter. With longer daylight hours, we can build an optimized circadian rhythm. This can regulate hormones and build healthy and positive habits to start and end your day. These habits can include walking a mile in the morning or after dinner, having your morning coffee outside on the porch, or eating dinner outside. Warmer and sunnier weather also welcomes activities that are crucial for our mental health strength - walking, hiking, swimming, running, biking, and gardening.
More access to fresh and seasonal produce
Summer brings a wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables that are naturally rich in vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, and water. Take a trip to your local farmer’s market and start your summer diet in the best way possible.
Nature helps lower stress
Spending time outside can be one of the most positive tools to our wellness. Studies show that being in nature can lower blood pressure, lowers anxiety, and can improve your attention and focus. Take some cool pictures of the landscape around you, set up a picnic with your friends, or take your shoes off and walk barefoot on the grass or sand.
