5 Simple Habits For A Healthier Fall

By Sam Petragnani

This article details simple habits that you implement into your daily routine as the temperatures start to drop.

1. Eat seasonal produce

The fall season means it’s pumpkin season. Cook meals with nutrient-rich produce like pumpkin, butternut squash, apples, and sweet potatoes. Also, produce is cheaper this time of year; take advantage and start making fall-seasoned meals for your friends and family.

2. Staying active outdoors

Walks and hikes during the fall season boost your mood and health. Get out there before it gets too cold!

3. Prioritize a consistent sleep schedule

Our bodies naturally adapt to the circadian rhythm when days get shorter or longer. With the fall season, days slowly start to get shorter, and this naturally shifts morning and night alarms to an earlier schedule. Prioritizing a consistent sleep schedule will help us stay on track for a healthy week.

4. Practice good hand hygiene

As temperatures go down, so can our immune system. Washing your hands and using hand sanitizer will help fight off those colds and other bugs during the fall and early winter season.

5. Nurture your mental health

Again, with the shorter days, people begin to lose motivation or lose energy throughout the day. Stay connected with friends and family to combat the darker days.
