Healthy Snacking Alternatives

THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE LIKE TO SNACK.

Whether it is watching movies, doing work, going to the library to do assignments, or going on a long car ride. Snacks are a necessity for some people. They quickly grab a bag of chips each time they want to snack. A bag of chips each time a person snacks isn’t the best for them. There are healthier choices and we are going to explore those options.

A healthy option for a breakfast snack is a thing called monkey toast.

What you will need to make this is peanut butter, banana, honey, bread, and chia seeds. It’s a very simple snack to make. First, you want to toast the bread; it can be any bread you prefer. Then after it is toasted you spread the peanut butter on and place on the slices of banana. It is optional if you want to put honey and chia seeds on it. They give the snack extra protein.

Another snack for the morning is called Energy Bites. Oat & Date Energy bites would be great for the morning.

What you will need: Oats, nuts, dates, and seeds. The energy bites are made from healthy fats like nuts and paired with a boost of carbs from dates and oats. A person should only need one or two of these to feel full. To make the Energy bites you will need to pulse oats, dates, nuts, and seeds in a blender until it turns into a paste. Season them with some salt and roll them into balls. A great thing about energy bites is that they can last in your fridge for a week.

Vegetables and hummus are a great healthy snack to make.

What you will need: Peppers, celery, carrots, or any veggie you like to eat with hummus. Hummus is great for creating healthy snacks! Simply divide your portioned servings of hummus and dip fiber-rich vegetables into the delicious hummus. Together, this combo makes an awesome healthy friendly bite.

Make yourself a little protein bento box.

CHOOSE WHAT ITEMS YOU LIKE TO SNACK ON.

Eggs, nuts, fruit, cottage cheese, cucumbers and so much more would make a yummy snack. Quick Turkey Roll-up would be a nice snack if you are in a rush or on the go. Things you will need turkey, and any cheese, hummus, or guacamole. Lay the slice of cheese on a cutting board. Top with a slice of turkey and a spoonful of hummus or guacamole. Wrap like a jelly roll and enjoy.

Caprese skewers are next. Its fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and balsamic. This is a great snack when you are sick of eating cheese and crackers. For a yummier healthy snack, cut fresh mozzarella into ½-inch cubes. Skewer on toothpicks with fresh tomatoes and basil and drizzle with balsamic. Then you have a healthy delicious snack!

Now if you are craving chocolate, instead of grabbing that candy bar, try Chocolate and Walnut-Cover Banana Bites.

You will need Dark chocolate chips or a bar, coconut oil, walnuts, and bananas. These frozen banana bites are perfect to keep in the freezer for easy snacking. First, you are going to slice the banana into 1-inch sections. Microwave chocolate and coconut oil together, until it becomes liquid. Chop up walnuts and layout on a plate. Skewer your bananas with a toothpick, and set up your workflow: dunk bananas into the chocolate, let drip as much as possible and then roll in the walnuts. Lay on a sheet of parchment paper. Once you've done all of them, toss a sheet in the freezer until they firm up. Once all the individual bananas are frozen, you can store them in a single bag. There are a lot more snacks that are healthy that you can have. Like jerky, any fruit, mixed nuts, cheese crackers and so much more.
